Alan L. Andres, 80, of Decatur, IN, former lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, IN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest. Al was born in Hammond, IN, on April 30, 1944, the son of the late Carl and Mary (Plank) Andres.
When he was a year old, his family moved to Leesburg, IN. He was a 1962 graduate of Leesburg High School and then went on to attend International Business College in Ft. Wayne, IN. He worked on the grounds crew at several public and private golf courses. He attended Turf School at Penn State University.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1965, served at a supply depot in Okinawa, and was honorably discharged in 1971.
On May 4, 1968, he married Sherry Whybrew in Leesburg, IN, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.
In the fall of 1968, Al began his career with Zimmer in Warsaw. He worked there for 34 years before retiring in 2002.
In addition to his wife, Sherry Andres, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Rumple of Decatur, IN, and Nicole (Tom) Allison of Speedway, IN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Grant Rumple, Cash Rumple, Emma (Izaac) Lowery, Brooke Allison, Avery Allison, Eliza Allison, and his sister, Judy Andres of Cincinnati, OH.
Al was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Kosciusko Masonic Lodge 448 in Milford, IN, where he served as the Secretary for over 20 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Woodcrest Porter Auditorium, 1300 Mercer Ave, Decatur, IN. Pastor Aaron Klein will be officiating and memorial visitation will be held prior from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
