Alan L. Morton, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Monroeville, IN, on November 7, 1940, son of the late Virgil E. and Helen I. (Baker) Morton. On June 2, 1962, he married Cheryl Shackley.
He was a former member of St. Mark’s Church. Alan worked as an Inspector for G.E. in Decatur. He was a third generation well driller. Alan loved his family and traveling with his wife and sisters-in-law, Karen & Sue. He also enjoyed going to auctions and tinkering in his shop.
Alan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cheryl Morton of Decatur; a son, David A. (Shawnee) Morton of Redkey, IN; 3 daughters, Susan K. Morton of Decatur, Jennifer S. (Chad) Honaker of Avilla, IN, Elizabeth A. (Troy Koch) Morton of Spencerville, IN; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Morton; his sister, Joane Long.
Per Alan’s request, there will be no Funeral Service.
A Graveside Service will be held in Decatur Cemetery, at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Stillwater Hospice.
