Alice V. (Geimer) Brunton, 95, former lifelong resident of Decatur, IN, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. She was born in Adams County, on June 5, 1929, to the late Herman and Matilda (Heimann) Geimer. On January 17, 1953, she married the love of her life, John “Jack” Brunton. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2020.
Alice was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a graduate of Decatur Catholic High School. She was a long-time member of the Holy Name Society, St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry for many years. Over the years, she volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic School; working at the candy counter and teaching sewing classes. She also did outreach to the homebound and elderly, sending out numerous Christmas cards every year.
Always willing to listen and guide, Alice played an instrumental role in bringing several souls back to Christ. Her love for the Lord was shown through her words and actions.
Among survivors are her five daughters, Janet Rees of North Richland Hills, Texas, Judy (David) Burckel of Franklin, Tennessee, Barbara (Mark) Forstall of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Becky (Patrick) Thesier of Cicero, Indiana, and Nancy (James) Meiner of Indianapolis, Indiana; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen Gage and Vera Laurent; numerous nieces & nephews and several special friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Shawn Rees and Christopher Hardy; three brothers, Richard, Carl and Robert Geimer; 3 sisters, Mary Alberding, Millie Leitz, and Agnes Daniels.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Erik Burckel, LC, grandson of the deceased, celebrating. Prior to the Mass there will be a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 9:20 a.m. and visitation will follow from 9:40 – 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Masses.
