Allen A Girod

Allen A. Girod, 90, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born on March 5, 1936, the son of Ernest and Mary (Straub) Girod. On December 8, 1956, Allen married Mary Jane (Rice) she preceded him in death on April 6, 2007.

Allen was a self-employed construction worker with ‘Jack Of All Trades’.                                  

Allen was a member of the Moose Lodge #1311, VFW, Son of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge 2653 and was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club.

Allen is survived by his companion Bonnie Cart; his son, Jack D. (Judy) Girod of Bluffton, IN; 3 daughters, Teresa F. (Kevin) Osborn of Bluffton, IN, Christi K. Fleishell of Decatur, IN, Susan J. Girod of Bluffton, IN; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jane and sister, Anita Girod.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, with a funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. at Haggard – Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.                                                          

Burial will follow in Ray Cemetery in Monroe, IN. Services will be officiated by Pastor Troy Green.

Memorials may be made to Mooseheart or American Legion Color Guard Post #43.
