Barbara J. (Walters) Kohne

Barbara J. Kohne, 88, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest. Barb was born in Decatur on September 10, 1935, to the late Orley B. and Helen E. (Berning) Walters. On September 2, 1957, Barb married Ferris D. Kohne, he preceded her in death on September 29, 2007.

Barb was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Decatur Women’s Club. She worked as a Lab Technician at Central Soya.

She is survived by her 3 children, Scott A. (Debora) Kohne of Cary, NC, DeeAnn (P Scott) Lengerich and Rhonda (Lenny) Razo both of Decatur; 2 brothers, Don (Bonnie) Walters of Ft. Wayne and Charlie F. Walters of Decatur; a brother-in-law, Nolan Griffiths of Decatur; 3 sisters, Pamela (Lester) Smith of Decatur, Kathy (Dennis) Fenker of Columbia City and Joanne (James) Wetzel of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, Peter (Brea) Kohne, Allison N. Kohne, Jerad (Shanna) Lengerich, Adam (Cheryl) Lengerich, Nicholas (Maci Bosch) Lengerich, Tyrell (Elizabeth) Lengerich, Magen (Spencer) Wilson, Christa (Patrick Hauk) Kohne, and Jeremy Razo; 2 step grandchildren, Lenny Razo and Nicholas Razo, and 24 great grandchildren.

Barb was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine A. Griffiths; a sister-in-law, Sherlie (Jamison) Walters.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services for Barb will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Zach Oedewaldt officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Memory Care @ Woodcrest.
