Bonnie Bohlander Obituary

Bonnie (Scheimann) Bohlander, 93, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2023. She was born on April 7, 1930, to George and Esther (Heidenreich) Scheimann, in Fort Wayne, IN.

She graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of “48”. In 1951, she married Roy Bohlander, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. They were married for 69 years when Roy passed.

Bonnie worked for the Adams County Health Department where she retired in 1992, after 18 years of service.

Bonnie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a member of Harvest House and Women of St. Mary’s. She was also a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound for many years.

Bonnie also belonged to the Girls Club: Mary, Mary Ellan, Alice, Phylis and Joan, high school friends that got together for over 65 years. Bonnie was the last. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her dear friends, Bonnie Rumschlag and Dorothy Gage.

Bonnie always placed her family first. She was a loving, caring, giving mom and grandmother. She was a best friend to her four children. Although advanced in age, she was young in spirit and still full of surprises.

It will be hard to imagine our lives without her in them. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her four children, Kay (Tony) Fry of Decatur, OH, Michael (Sally) Bohlander, Jeff and Justin of OH, Ann Bohlander of Decatur, IN, Roy Ed Bohlander of Ohio City, OH; grandchildren Bill Fry, Mindy Bohlander; great grandchildren, Daniel, James, Moon, River, and Shadow. Her sister, Joan Jones; brother-in-law, Lee Bohlander, and sister-in-law, Ila (Ron) Korte

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Roy and her daughter, Sue M. Bohlander.

A reciting of the Holy Rosary will take place at 9:00 a.m. followed by visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be then be offered at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father David Ruppert presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or Masses.
