Bonnie L. Funk, 94, of Decatur, passed away Monday evening, April 13, 2026, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born in Preble, IN, on November 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Glen and Florence (Werling) Baumgartner. On November 12, 1949, Bonnie married Leonard D. Funk, he preceded her in death after 46 years together, on December 10, 1995.
Bonnie was a member of St. Luke Church. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1949, was a homemaker and worked for Sohigro fertilizer, south of Monroe, for over 10 years. Bonnie enjoyed being with her family and being the caregiver to her husband for 15 years before his death.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Judy (Robert) Newman of Hickory, NC, Janis Whitcomb, and Joy (Don) Erxleben both of Decatur, IN; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Funk; a brother, Jack Baumgartner; a son-in-law, Paul Whitcomb.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with visitation prior from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to A.C.C.F. Angel Cancer Fund.
