Brendan Gross Obituary

Brendan Christopher Gross, 24, of Columbia City, IN, formerly of Decatur, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024, at his residence. He was born on July 27, 1999, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of Christopher and April (Miller) Gross.

He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Brendan was such a special little man in so many ways.  Even though life dealt him a complicated hand, he lived so happily.   Brendan was non verbal, but was able to communicate what he wanted in his own way.  He loved his daddy and mommy and siblings and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Spongebob and the Wendy Williams show!!

He had many gifts that he shared and taught others around him.  He touched lives with his infectious smile, ornery laugh, and overall sweet nature.   He taught others compassion and the ultimate meaning of love.

Brendan was the light in his family’s eyes and there will be a huge hole left without him here.  We know he is in heaven and doing all the things his earthly body didn't allow him to do, like talking, walking, running, and eating.

In Brendan’s world, he lived a perfect life and now he can spread his angel wings and fly.

Brendan is survived by his parents; siblings, Tracie (Doug) Weaver of Wabash, IN, Austin (Nicole) Gross of Batesville, IN, Haley (Logan) Baker of Decatur, IN; paternal grandmother, Joan Gross of Decatur, IN; maternal grandmother, Priscilla Dashiell of Greenwood, IN; nieces & nephews, Tensley, Reid and Willow Weaver, Everly and Dean Gross, Jaxson and Maverick Baker; God parents, Steve and Carla Gage.

He was preceded in death by April’s sister, Aunt Tracie Arlene Miller; his grandfathers, Thomas Gross and Robert Dashiell.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Steve Colchin presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Brendan's favorite color was red, so the family has asked everyone to wear red to honor him.
