Carolyn L (Owens) Baumgartner

Carolyn L. Baumgartner, 89, of Decatur, IN passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest. Carolyn, the daughter of the late Harold D. and Erma B. (Gage) Owens, was born on September 3, 1935, in Decatur. On August 31, 1956, Carolyn married Richard L. Baumgartner. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1993.

Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church, now Grace First and the Alpha Omega Sunday School class. She retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne, with 34 years of service.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Kimberly L. Wolfe and Gloria M. (Fred) Cooper both of Decatur; 2 sisters, Donna J. Owens and Linda G. Drake both of Decatur; 5 grandchildren Tara, Tiffany, Bret, Heather, and Brandy; 9 great grandchildren Mason, Madison, Kyler, Dakota, Cobi, MacKenzie, Emerson, Conner, Skyle; and 2 great-great grandchildren Oaklynn and Aspen.

Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Lybarger.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Adams Woodcrest-Porter Auditorium.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with calling 1 hour prior from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Pastor Steve Austin Officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Dale Cemetery, rural Decatur.

Memorials may be made to the Adams County Cancer Coalition.
