Catherine M. (Brendle) Laucks

Catherine M. Laucks, 103, of Decatur, IN, former longtime resident of Shillington, PA, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Adams Woodcrest, where she has resided for the past 13 years. She was born on March 24, 1920, in Adamstown, PA, the daughter of the late Clarence K. and Mabel M. (Eckenroth) Brendle. On December 1, 1945, Catherine married John R. Laucks, he preceded her in death, in March of 2004.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Shillington, PA and was a 1938 graduate of Shillington High School. She had worked in the office for W.T. Grant for 20 years

and an additional 20 years as a clerk at the Shillington Market.  

Catherine was a sweet mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She loved nothing more than giving to others of her time, talents, and wonderful cookies. She will be missed, but at 103 she deserves to go on to a better life.

She is survived by her son, James R. (Nancy) Laucks of Decatur, IN; 2 grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Laucks of Zionville, IN, Melissa (Andy) Jacobs of Fort Wayne, IN; 4 great grandchildren, Madalyn Jacobs, Jack Jacobs, Addy Laucks, Katie Laucks.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held at Klee Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Shillington, PA. Burial will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Sinking Springs, PA.

Memorials may be made to Grace First Community Church in Decatur or Grace Lutheran Church in Shillington.
