Charles R. Raber, Sr, 79, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Adams Memorial Hospital. Charles was born in Monroeville on May 28, 1943 to the late Richard Parker and Pearl Luella (Laudhan) Raber. On January 25, 1964, he married Nancy J. Marquardt.
Charles was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from B.F. Goodrich as an oiler with 32 years of service. He also ran a successful Maytag appliance service for 20+ years. After retiring, he became known as “Farmer Charlie”, selling produce at local farmer markets.
Charles loved and was devoted to his family very much. He enjoyed cookouts, fishing and especially playing with his grandchildren. He also loved all his animals, especially his horse Dot.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy J. Raber of Monroeville; a son, Charles (Kim) Raber of Douglasville, GA; a daughter, Michelle (Paul) Fields of Monroeville; a nephew, Andy Marquardt; 4 grandchildren, Charles (Ricky) Raber III, Brittney Raber, Claudia Fields and Raber Fields and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Winans.
Per the family request, there will be Private Family services.
Preferred memorials may be given to Union Chapel UMC Missions.
Burial will be in Monroeville Cemetery.
