David L. Eady, 77, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born in Van Wert, OH, on August 18, 1947, the son of the late Theodore D. “Ted” and Alvera (Cully) Eady.
He was a 1965 graduate of Decatur High School. Dave then enlisted in the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class and was decorated for his service and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
Dave worked for General Electric for 30 years and retired in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion Adams Post 43.
He is survived by his brother, Jeff Eady and his sister, Sue Eady both of Decatur, IN; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Larry Henry, Steve Eady, and Kim Eady and a sister-in-law, Mary Eady.
Military Honors will be rendered at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Haggard – Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard. Burial will take place the same day in the Marion National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., with Military Graveside Rites rendered by the United States Army.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Adams Post 43.
