Dolores Ross Obituary

Dolores A. “Dolly” Ross, 89, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at The Cedars in Leo. She was born in Decatur, IN, on October 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Francis J. and Mary E. (Tempel) Coyne. On June 14, 1952, she married Max D. Ross and after 41 years he preceded her in death on May 20, 1994.

She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Women of St. Mary. For 15 years she was involved with St. Mary’s R.C.I.A., a process through which adults can enter the Catholic Church.

Dolly was a homemaker, but also worked for Decatur Industries for 38 years until she retired in 1997. She was also a realtor and was a licensed EMT. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Adams Lodge 1311.

She is survived by 3 sons, Edward J. Ross of Ft. Wayne, Thomas E. Ross, and John F. Ross both of Decatur; a daughter, Mary E. Bennett of Ft. Wayne; 2 sisters, Patricia Brown of Monroe and Dorothy Litchfield of Wausau, WI; 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia Coyne of Monroeville and Gladys Coyne of Decatur; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Dolly was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Snyder; 3 brothers, Richard Coyne, Francis Coyne Jr., and James Coyne and a sister, Rosemary Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Runyon presiding. Prior to the Mass there will be visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to A.C.C.F. Angel Cancer Fund or Adams County Heart Club.
