Donnie J. Fawcett

Donnie J. Fawcett, 77, of Decatur, IN passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Don was born in Van Wert, Ohio on December 16, 1944 to the late A.W. and Helen (Troutner) Fawcett. On December 29, 1966, Don married Linda Hodle.

Don attended the Bridge Community Church North. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion Post #43 and D.A.V. #40. He worked as a Leadman for Fleetwood for 38 ½ years before his retirement in 2008.

Don liked to work with his hands and watch the birds. He was an AJBC certified youth bowling coach, coached the Redsox little league team, the Macklins girls’ softball team and bowled for many years. He loved IU Basketball and the Yankees.  Don also loved spending time with his grandkids.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Fawcett; daughter, Beth Ann Fawcett; son, Mike (Stephanie) Fawcett all of Decatur; 2 sisters, Barbara Hill of Tennessee and Patricia Sanderson of Ossian; a sister-in-law, Joanne Fawcett of Decatur; 2 grandchildren, Jared (Stephanie) Fawcett and Britny Fawcett both of Decatur; 2 great grandchildren, Brantley and Sophie Fawcett of Decatur and 1 on the way in Nov.

Preceding Don in death is a granddaughter, Ebony Ann Fawcett; 2 brothers, Gary and Roger Fawcett.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 also at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Beers officiating.  Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Color Guard Post 43.

Preferred Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice, American Legion Post 43 Color Guard or Donor’s Choice.
