Doris A. (Nevil) Kahlert

Doris A. Kahlert, 84, of Berne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Stillwater Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne. She was born on July 4, 1941 in Geneva to the late John H. and Frances (Bailey) Nevil. Doris married Bernhard P. Kahlert on December 28, 1991; he preceded her in death on November 23, 2014.

Doris was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren Church. She was a cook for the South Adams Schools for 31 years.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Gary (Jenny) Brunner of Bluffton and Kevin Brunner of Ft. Wayne; caregivers, Margie and Rick Teboe; bonus family, Ethan and Candy Campbell, JuliAnna and Harper; sister, Lovina Brant of Geneva.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Visitation will be prior from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
