Dwight D. Davis, 93, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 23, 1931, the son of the late Paul D. and Helen M. (Roe) Davis. On October 27, 1989, he married Carolyn R. (Dulle) Nagel.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was the Owner/Operator of Davis Paving for many decades. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge 1311 and American Legion Post 43. He enjoyed polka dancing and waltzing. Dwight traveled across the country and won numerous awards from participating in draft horse pulling events and shows.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Carolyn Davis of Decatur, IN; a daughter, Denise Miller of Las Vegas, NV; 2 step sons, Bradley Nagel of Defiance, OH, and Raymond Nagel of Jacksonville, FL; a step daughter, Angela Nagel of Los Angeles; a brother, Norman Davis of Hoagland, IN; 6 grandchildren, Emil Miller, Drew Miller, Monet Miller Federspiel, Aaron Davis, Amy Davis, and Mandy Davis Pontsler; 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Duane D. Davis on July 14, 2024 and 3 sisters, Marcille Dear, Daisy Hurst, and Eileen Dawson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation before the service from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Pastor Zach Oedewaldt will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
