Edith M. Arnold, 94, of Berne, passed away in the evening on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Swiss Village. She was born in Berne, IN, on March 8, 1932, to the late Chris P. and Amelia (Habegger) Steury. On April 6, 1952, Edith married Homer Junior Arnold who preceded her in death on December 28, 2014.
She was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren and served as a Deaconess.
Edith was a homemaker and was employed at Swiss Village as an office manager for 25 years. She was a member of the Kirkland Homemakers Club and volunteered for Hospice.
She had a love of nature and its beauty, enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
Edith’s faith was shown through her selflessness and acts of service to others throughout the community. The way that she lived her life is a legacy to how she will be remembered by her family.
Edith is survived by her 3 sons, Alan (Pam) Arnold of Monroe, IN, Ned (Melinda) Arnold of West Chicago, IL, Kerry (Lee Ann) Arnold of Lafayette, IN; her daughter, Beth (Don) Bales of Lowell, IN; a sister, Edna Bryant of Pierceton, IN; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Swiss Village.
A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Pastor Jay Carter will be officiating, and burial will follow in Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice.
