Edna J. Everett, 95, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born in Craigville, IN, on October 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Wilmer and Anna (Yake) Warthman. On October 11, 1947, she married Robert A. Everett and he then preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.
She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was a 1944 graduate of Kirkland High School. She was the Precinct Committee Chairperson for Union Township. She was also a member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority and the Caliente Home Extension Club.
Edna along with her late husband were the owners and operators of O – D Western Store in rural Decatur from 1968 until she closed the store in 2005.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Monte (Lisa) Everett and John (Kris) Everett both of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, Seth Everett, Amanda Everett, Bailey Everett, and Karson Everett. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, also at the funeral home, with visitation 1 hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Pastor John McCullough will be officiating and burial will immediately follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
