Elaine Bluhm, 90, of Monroe, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Swiss Village. She was born on August 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Ralph R. and F. Lucille (Henschen) Freels.
On June 5, 1954, she married Gene R. Bluhm and after 63 years he preceded her in death on October 15, 2017.
She was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren. Elaine was very involved in the life of the church, she was a pianist and chorister in her younger years, kindergarten Sunday school teacher for 40 years, family life committee providing flowers and decorations for the church, the music committee, the kitchen committee and served on the Deacon board for 13 years.
Elaine and her husband Gene also owned and operated Bluhm Upholstery in Monroe.
She is survived by her 4 children, Jan (Sue) Bluhm of Decatur, Janie (Rod) Lautzenheiser of Leo, Jeff (Dana) Bluhm of Monroe, and Jason (Angie) Bluhm of Berne; brother, Allen Freels of Albion; sister, Arlene (Ron) Corson of Milford; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2026 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday April 30, 2026 at Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, with calling 1 hour prior from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Pastor Jay Carter will be officiating and burial will take place in Pleasant Dale Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren.
