Eleanor Lengerich Obituary

Eleanor L. Lengerich, 92, of Decatur, passed away on September 7, 2024 at Adams Woodcrest. Eleanor was born in Poe, IN on June 28, 1932, to the late Valentine and Rose E. (Rosswurm) Laker. On October 27, 1973, she married Thomas E. Lengerich, he preceded her in death on November 18, 2008.

Eleanor was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, and its Rosary Society. Eleanor was a 1951 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School.  She worked at Kelly’s Dry Cleaners for 50 years.

Eleanor is survived by her sister, Myrna Fravel of Decatur and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Doris Maley, a brother, Anthony Laker, 3 half-sisters, Alice Solbert, Berniece LaTurner, and Anna Marie Hamill.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Masses.
