George Roger Litchfield, better known as Roger, passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 86 in Gainesville, Florida. Born on November 14, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Roger dedicated his life to an array of professions and passions.
Roger proudly served in the Navy and the National Guard, dedicating two years to each branch. His commitment to both military sectors underscored his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Professionally, Roger was a self-employed dairy farmer and excavation contractor, later venturing into property investing. Always self-employed, his work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in every aspect of his life.
Beyond his professional and military service, Roger was passionate about agriculture, particularly in raising dairy and beef cattle. He cherished the time spent caring for animals and tending to his land.
Roger was a devout participating catholic his entire life, most recently attending services provided by Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Veteran's Domiciliary Home of Florida, where he was a resident. Before residing at the domiciliary, Roger lived on his "ranch" in Brandford, FL, raising beef cattle and refurbishing tractors.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Litchfield; daughters, Sandi Litchfield, Kym (Lon) Riedel, and JoAnn (Chad) Marcon; siblings, Greg (Dodie) Litchfield, Janet (Tim) Zoll, Roseanne Clark, Rich (Rachel) Litchfield and Tony (Tammie) Litchfield; six grandchildren, Garett, Jessey, Cassie, Dakota, Lexi and Kenzie; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Miles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Virginia Litchfield; brothers, Chris, Larry, Roy, and Steve Litchfield; niece and nephew, Brea and Toby Zoll.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, in Decatur, IN, with a meal following the service.
A Graveside Service will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery that same morning.

Roger's life was marked by his extraordinary work ethic, his dedication to his family, his faith, his service, and his love for his land, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
