Gary W. Shoaf, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on November 27, 1939, in Adams County, the son of Harold J. and Edna Mae (Lautzenheiser) Shoaf. On June 11, 1960, he married Jewel Sudduth.
He attended Grace Fellowship Church in Decatur and was a plumber, employed at Swifty Plumbing, in Fort Wayne.
Gary is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jewel Shoaf of Decatur; his children, Mindy (Rob) Knefelkamp of Decatur, IN, Carla (Larry) Janikowski of Columbus, IN, Rodney Shoaf of Indianapolis, IN, Jodi Shoaf of Fort Wayne, IN; siblings, Judy (Ed) Mosshammer of Florida, Kathy (John) Frey of Utah, Lee (Rosie) Shoaf of Decatur, IN, Jane Edge of Utah; grandchildren, Ryan (Margo) Knefelkamp of Avon, IN, Stacie (Art) Knefelkamp of Peotone, IL, Courtnie Janikowski and Michael Janikowski both of Grand Rapids, MI; 4 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Adams Woodcrest, with visitation 2 hours before from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Pastor Dan York will be officiating and burial will take place at a later date, in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
