Geraldine O. “Gerry” Snyder, 97, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Adams Memorial Hospital. Gerry was born in San Bernadino, CA on April 26, 1925, to the late William O. and Mabel A. (Rawson) Turner. On November 17, 1946, she married William F. Snyder, he preceded her in death on May 26, 1968.
She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
Gerry is survived by four sons, Bill (Judie) Snyder of Fort Wayne, John (Diana) Snyder of Decatur, Tom (Amy) Snyder of South Carolina and Mike (Sherry) Snyder of Kentucky; six daughters, Ginny (Dennis) Garwood, Sue (Jerry) Harvey, Barb (Mike) Meyer, Kathy Harshman, Cindi (Barry) Malone and Debbie (Donny) Myers all of Decatur; 48 grandchildren, 116 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” F. Snyder on 12/16/2019, a son-in-law, Dale Harshman, a grandson, Sam Snyder, a great granddaughter, Abigail Alana, a brother, and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home with Reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father Dave Ruppert will be the celebrant and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church or St. Joseph Catholic School.
