Hildegard R. (Springer) Blondell

Hildegard R. Blondell, 97, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. Hildegard was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on June 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Irma C. (Hans) Springer. On May 7, 1947, Hildegard married August W. Blondell, he preceded her in death on January 30, 2009.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and was a 1945 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School. Hildegard retired from General Telephone in 1986, after 43 years of service. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hildegard is survived by her 3 daughters, Cheryl L. (Gary Becker) Blondell of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lauri M. (Randy Miller) Moorer of St. Matthews, SC and Michelle R. (Tony) Stimpson of Decatur, IN; 3 grandchildren, Kelli J. Bennett of South Carolina, Andrew W. (Lindsey) Stimpson and Nathaniel G. (Brianna) Stimpson both of Decatur; 5 great grandchildren, Colten W., Weston R., Jaxtin D., Barrett G. and Graham L. Stimpson.

Hildegard was preceded in death by twin sons in infancy, David L. and Douglas W. Blondell; grandson, Douglas A. Stimpson, 5 siblings, Gilbert P. Springer, Norma W. Pardue, Rosalind I. Unverzagt, Gerald F. Springer, and Milton L. Springer.

Visitation will be from Noon – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, Decatur.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Rd, Fort Wayne, IN, with calling 1 hour prior to service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Trombley officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Eleos Hospice.
