Horace B. Sweat

Horace Bryan Eugene Sweat, 70, of Laotto, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Horace was born in Dillon, SC, on December 10, 1953, to the late Arthur Sweat and Janie Cleo (Henderson) Sweat.

Horace Bryan Eugene joined the United States Marine Corps in 1973 and served a tour at the end of Vietnam. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in in 1979.

Horace Bryan Eugene drove truck for 20 years for Brothers Express and had also worked for Decatur Casting.

He is survived by 2 sons, Horace Bryan Eugene Sweat Jr. of Ft. Wayne and Jason Anthony Sweat of Indianapolis; a daughter, Jennifer Sue (Rion) Bleeke of Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald R. Sweat and Harvel L. Sweat both of Victoria, TX; a sister, Clara Mae Brock of Decatur.

Horace Bryan Eugene was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Sue Sweat at birth; a grandchild, Maya Sweat, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.

Burial will follow in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN, at 1:00 p.m.
