Jacqueline L. “Jackie” (Bricker) Beery

Jacqueline L. “Jackie” Beery, 94, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at her residence. Jackie was born on August 10, 1929 in Ithaca, Michigan to the late Charles O. and Frances A. (Gribler) Bricker. On June 21, 1947, she married James Beery; he preceded her in death on February 6, 2022.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, in Decatur. Jackie and Jim were in the restaurant business their entire lives and were the owners of the Donut Shop, Happy Humpty Drive-In, and Preble Gardens. Together they loved square dancing over the years.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Sue (Max) Milholland and Jan (Mike) Hurst both of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Jane Beery of Decatur; 6 grandchildren, John (Kari) Beery, Jason Beery, Kelley (Mike) Cox, Kim (Raymond) Silva, James Scott, Michael Scott; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, James “Mike” Beery; a granddaughter, Jennifer Beery; 2 brothers and a sister.

A Family Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Zachary Oedewaldt officiating and burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
