James H. “Big Jim” Schultz, 82, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Lima, Ohio, on June 5, 1943, the son of Howard August and Grace Evelyn (Kathrens) Schultz. On August 16, 2005, he married Carolyn S. Wagers.
He graduated from Jonesboro High School in Arkansas and was the captain of his football team. Jim was an avid Golfer and proud to have gotten 2 hole in ones!
Jim was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and loved his family very much.
He enjoyed being a Pilot, was a Truck Driver, and Master Mechanic at Central Soya, retiring after 45 years of service. He was super particular about his lawn (loved having perfectly straight lines), a huge blizzard lover (especially Oreo) and liked Latte’s too.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Schultz; his children, Jim (Amy) Schultz of Arlington, TN, John (Micki) Schultz of Decatur, IN, Leslie (Jim) Pushor of Franklin, TN, Aaron (Kate) Schultz of Three Rivers, MI; step sons, Russell Alberson of Fort Wayne, IN, Brad (Jamie) Alberson of Ossian, IN; a brother, Fred (Peggy) Schultz of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Mary Ann (Ernest) Ortiz of Houston, TX; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his sister, Betty Sue Church and his brother, David Schultz.
A Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Pastor Josh Zurcher will be officiating and burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Youth/Trail Life or Laurel Mission.
