James E. Thatcher, 47, of Decatur, Indiana, died on Monday, March 23, 2026. James was born on January 31, 1979 in Van Wert, Ohio, the son of Deborah (Edwards) Ratliff. On July 29, 2011, James married Katheren C. Sharpe.
James was a clerk at Smokes and a member of the Decatur Eagles.
He is survived by his wife Katheren C. Thatcher of Decatur; 6 children, Christine (Jesse) Smith of Decatur, Nikilynn (Jacob) Dasher of Ft. Wayne, Rayne (Ronald) Secaur of Decatur, Adriana Weiland of Decatur, Isajaha Thatcher of Muncie and Nathanial Thatcher of Muncie; sister, Beth Ann of Muncie; 10 grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by “Pops”.
There will be no services for James.
