Jean Lavon Ross, 90, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Adams Woodcrest. Jean was born on November 1, 1935 in Chattanooga, Ohio to the late George W. and Minnie A. (Johnson) Kallenberger.
She retired from General Electric in Decatur after many years of service. Jean was a former member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary Lodge #1311.
Jean married Billy Joe Ross on February 20, 1953, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2022.
She is survived by 2 sons, Lester (Jane) Ross and Ronald Ross both of Decatur, a brother, Don Sausaman of Chicago, a sister, Joanne (Bill) Karbach of Decatur, 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Ross and Janet Heimann both of Decatur; 2 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter and 3 great-great granddaughters.
Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Max Kallenberger.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Monday, May 11, 2026 with visitation one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Pastor Ernie Suman will officiate and burial will take place in Ray Cemetery at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to Adams County Cancer Coalition.
