Jeanette McGill, 103, passed away on April 30, 2023 at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon, IN. She had lived with her daughter in Brownsburg, IN for over 2 years. Jeanette was born on February 19, 1920 in Adams County, IN to the late Edward and Agnes (Omlor) Rumschlag. On May 1, 1945, she married James T. McGill; he preceded her in death on April 13, 2020.
Jeanette was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Adams Post 43 Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from the United Telephone Company.
Jeanette is survived by 3 sons, James T. (Carol) McGill of Decatur, Michael (Jane) McGill of Kokomo and Thomas (Sue) McGill of Decatur; 2 daughters, Mary Bridget McGill of Brownsburg and Kathleen (Richard) Blankenship of Florida; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a sister, Marjorie King of Beaverton, Oregon.
Jeanette was preceded in death by a son, Daniel McGill; a granddaughter; 3 great grandsons; a brother, Hubert Rumschlag; 4 sisters, Rosemary Westrick, Mildred Rumschlag, Patricia Holthouse and Ruth Butler.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, with visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Masses.
