Jerry L. "Jake" Tharp

Jerry L. “Jake” Tharp Jr., 62, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Adams Memorial Hospital. Jake was born on February 3, 1961 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Jerry L. “J.T.” Tharp Sr. and Mariana M. (Jauregui) Tharp.

Jake was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He formerly worked for Kroger’s for 10 years and currently was employed by Fleetwood RV.

He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Tharp (fiancé Andrew Wildes) of Decatur; 3 sisters, Victoria (Jeff) Girard, Christina (Gary) Seitz, and Theresa (Mike) Shoaf all of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Douglas Fairchild, Alora and Connor Perry. Jake was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Tharp III.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 6:00 p.m. with Father David Ruppert presiding. Please wear casual clothing in honor of Jake.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
