Jesus "Jesse" Calderon Velazquez

Jesus “Jesse” Calderon Velazquez, 77, of Berne, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Swiss Village. Jesus was born on March 28, 1946 in Trejo, Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Joaquin and Atanasia (Calderon) Velazquez. He married Trinidad Vergara, she preceded him in death on December 21, 2003.

Jesus is a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He previously worked as a machine operator. He worked for Corning Glass, Tippton Construction and Driggs Dairy.

He is survived by his 3 children, Joaquin Velazquez of Decatur, Jen (Josh) Abbott of Woodburn and Jaime Velazquez of Van Wert, OH; his 3 siblings, Lupe Velazquez, Concepcion Velazquez Calderon and Conchita Velazquez Calderon all of Mexico; 5 grandchildren, Beverly and Nathaniel Velazquez, Julianna, Jillian and Jonah Abbott and 1 great grandchild, Auryn Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Lee Allen Fortin presiding. Visitation will be prior to Mass from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to St. Mary’s Church.
