Jewel Ann Shoaf, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born on May 19, 1940, in Decatur, IN, the daughter of the late Orval and Vera E. (Hawkins) Sudduth. On June 11, 1960, she married Gary W. Shoaf, he preceded her in death on July 31, 2023.
She attended Grace Fellowship Church in Decatur and had worked for Woodcrest in the dietary department. She was a people person who never met a stranger, and always looked for ways to help others.
Jewel is survived by her children, Mindy (Rob) Knefelkamp of Decatur, IN, Carla (Larry) Janikowski of Columbus, IN, Rodney Shoaf of Indianapolis, IN, Jodi Shoaf of Fort Wayne, IN; a sister, Sharon K. (Tom) Suman of Decatur; grandchildren, Ryan (Margo) Knefelkamp of Avon, IN, Stacie (Art) Knefelkamp of Peotone, IL, Courtnie Janikowski and Michael Janikowski both of Grand Rapids, MI; 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Sudduth.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation 2 hours before from Noon-2:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Pastor Dan York will be officiating and Private burial will take place Monday, September 25, 2023 in St. Luke Cemetery.
