Santiago "Jimmy" Garcia, 62, of Auburn, IN, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Eagle Pass, TX, on August 19, 1962, the son of the late Arnulfo V. and Genoveva (Hernandez) Garcia. On August 15, 2020, he married Maria L. Shoop.
He worked as a diesel mechanic for Parrish Leasing in Ft. Wayne for over 36 years before retiring in December of 2024.
Jimmy was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He also attended First Christian Church in Auburn and volunteered for IAM Food Pantry in Auburn. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Maria L. Garcia of Auburn; 2 sons, Brandon (Braydon) Fox and Kaleb Garcia both of Ft. Wayne; a step son, Neil (Abby) Davenport of Denver, CO; 3 brothers, Arnulfo (Jody) Garcia Jr. of Monroe, Hector (Tammy) Garcia and Mike Garcia both of Decatur; 2 sisters, Janie (Tim) LaBoube and Maria (Tom) Weddle both of Decatur; father and mother-in-law, William and Julie Shoop of Coldwater, MI; in-laws, Kyle (Christine) Shoop of Pittsburgh, PA, Marc (Erica) Shoop of Union City, MI, Karl Shoop of Coldwater, MI, Sarah (Derek) Crites of Niles, MI, and Laura (Jim) Oskins of St. Joseph, MI; “a daughter”, Alisha Kemp, and “a granddaughter”, Karma Kemp.
He was preceded in death by a step daughter, Kayla Davenport.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with Father Jacob Runyon officiating. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to IAM Food Pantry or First Christian Church in Auburn.
