Jose J. Mendoza Jr.

Jose J. “Joe” Mendoza Jr., 57, of Decatur, IN, passed away on June 26, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 14, 1967, the son of the late Jesse and Mary (Mendoza) Mendoza.

He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He worked various jobs as a welder. He enjoyed being with his grandkids and grilling and being outside.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Amanda Mendoza of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Terry Boothby III, Xaylor Busche, and Lily Boothby; 3 brothers, Chris Mendoza of Texas, Daniel Mendoza of Stickney, IL, and Michael (Liz) Mendoza of Palatine, IL; a sister Nieves (Jose) Bernal of Decatur; 3 half-brothers, Jesse (Bianca) Mendoza of Houston, TX, George (Griselda) Mendoza of Chicago, IL and Ricky (Marcy) Mendoza of Broadview, IL; 2 half-sisters, Sandra Zuniga of Chicago, IL and Lupita (Sergio) Mendoza

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Mendoza and a brother-in-law, Manuel Zuniga.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with Father Jacob Runyon officiating. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
