Joyce A. (Kessen) Fullenkamp

Joyce Fullenkamp, 77, of Decatur, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at home surrounded by family. She was born on March 5, 1946, in Celina, OH, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Gillig) Kessen. On September 25, 1965, Joyce married William “Bill” Fullenkamp. They were married for 58 years.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Service Volunteer. She was also a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph Decatur Catholic High School. Joyce worked as a CNA for Adams Memorial Hospital, for St. Joseph’s School Daycare and for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend as a housekeeper for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Decatur, until she retired in 2015.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Bill Fullenkamp; daughter, Patti (Jeff) Castner; sons, Chris (Kathy) Fullenkamp and Adam Fullenkamp; sisters, Carol Marshand and Eileen (Denny) Westrick. She was loved by grandchildren, Candace (Neal) Casaubon, Ashley (Peter) Burwell, Mandi (A.J. Riecke) Miller, Andrew Fullenkamp, Kyle Castner, Landon Fullenkamp & Allison Fullenkamp; 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Jill and Emily and a sister, Kay Heller.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 12:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at Noon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation 1 hour before from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors and Father David Ruppert will be presiding. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Masses. Checks can be made payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Mary's Catholic Church for Masses and mailed to the funeral home.
