Joyce Ann (Ogg) Geels

Joyce Ann Geels, 62, of Decatur, IN passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Joyce was born on November 1, 1961 in Decatur, to the late Max E. and Helen J. (Owens) Ogg. On July 31, 1993 she married Christopher A. Geels.

Joyce loved her family very much, she especially loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was so excited to become a grandma and  was looking forward to meeting her second grandson soon. She enjoyed arts and crafts projects, being outside, gardening, cooking from the heart and canning jalapenos.  Family gatherings were always a highlight for Joyce, even though she was usually late to every one of them. She received her bachelor’s degree from IPFW.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher A. Geels of Decatur; 3 children, Daniel “Danny” (Alyssa) Dowler of Decatur, Mariah “Riah” (Trevor Hawkins) of Highlands Ranch , Co. and Victoria “Tory” (Tristan) Anderson of Decatur; brother, Neil (Mary) Ogg of Decatur; twin sister, Jan S. Kiser and sister, Jill (Jeff) Witmer both of Decatur; grandson, Levi Dowler and a grandson Teddy Hawkins on the way.

Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, Terry D. Ogg and a sister, Becky Ogg.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2024 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Haggard Hirschy and Zelt Funeral Home. Funeral services will also be at the funeral home on Wednesday September 11, 2024 at 10:00 am with visitation one our prior to the service. Pastor Jonathan Crandall officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Hope Clinic or the ASPCA.
