Luther P. “Luke” Beitler Jr., 75, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Luke was born on September 3, 1948 in Decatur to the late Luther Paul Beitler Sr. and Rebecca E. (Uhrick) Beitler. On July 21, 1990, Luke married Angela L. Jauregui; she preceded him in death on April 30, 2022.
Luke retired from Strick Trailers after 20 years in 2009. After his retirement, he had Luke’s Veggies produce stand. He also loved cooking Mexican food. Luke was a member of the VFW Post 6236 for 25 years, where he was serving as Officer Quartermaster. He served his country in the United States Army, during Vietnam as a specialist 4th class.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Tina Charlton of Lakeland, FL, Marie (Thor) Mikula of Antigo, WI, Phyllis (Kent) Alverson and Dolores “Dee Dee” (Greg Light) Jauregui both of Decatur, and honorary daughter, Denise (Denny) Johnson also of Decatur; 2 brothers, Frederick Beitler and James (Libby) Beitler, and 1 sister, Devota Mae Beitler all of Baton Rouge, LA; 5 grandchildren, Michael and Rachel Roundy, Nichole and Brooke Roman and Katelyn; 3 great grandchildren, Xavier, McKayla and Michael Roundy.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, followed by Military Honors at 6:00 p.m. rendered by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to Disabled American Veterans.
