Michael Joseph Beauchot, 71, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand.
He was born on May 14, 1954, in Decatur, Indiana. Michael was a beloved son, brother, teacher, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Beauchot. He is survived by his devoted mother, Jody Beauchot, and the love of his life, Fengying Gao. Mike leaves behind a large and loving family: his brothers, David, Joseph (wife Jenn), Tony, and Pat; his sisters, Cathy Householder (husband John) and Nance Heidemann (husband Rich); and many nieces, nephews, and friends around the world.
Mike dedicated his life to education, a calling he pursued with passion and commitment. For the last 25 years, he made his home in Asia, teaching in both Thailand and China, where he was deeply respected by his students and colleagues alike.
A man of strong Catholic faith, Mike lived with purpose, humility, and a deep sense of service. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially baseball, the companionship of cats and bird watching.
Mike’s gentle spirit, quick wit, and unwavering kindness touched all who knew him. Though he spent many years far from home, his love for his family and faith remained close to his heart.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, with Father Jacob Runyon presiding. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mike’s honor to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Decatur, Indiana (127 N 4th Street, Decatur, IN 46733).
Arrangements are entrusted to Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
