Michael J. Phillips

Michael J. Phillips, 67, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Michael was born in Uniondale, IN on August 9, 1955 to the late F. Leon and Mildred (Huffman) Phillips. On October 19, 1985, Michael married Dara E. Kuck.

Michael attended New Hope Lutheran Church. He was a semi-truck driver for 43 years, 1st for Georgia-Pacific and then for JAT of Ft. Wayne, retiring in December in 2020. Michael also served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dara E. Phillips of Decatur; step-son, Dustin R. Reinhart of Decatur; daughter, Leah Wansley of Sylacauga, AL; 2 brothers, Larry (Coreen) Phillips of Ft. Wayne, IN and Denny (Joann Fox) Phillips of Uniondale, IN; 2 granddaughters, Riley Oglesbee and Jersey Wansley.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, Decatur.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 8824 N St Rd 1, Ossian, with calling prior from 10:30 -11:00 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Burfiend officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites rendered by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.

Preferred memorials are to American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
