Patrick E. Van Poppel

Patrick E. Van Poppel, 68, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his residence. The son of the late Louis E. and Thelma I. (Hesrick) Van Poppel, Patrick was born in Bryan, OH on October 5, 1955.

He was a 1974 Bellmont High School graduate and was self-employed. He was a unique individual. The only thing bigger than his sense of humor was his heart. He was amazingly artistic; he was a generous soul who shared his art that he built or drew by hand with everyone he knew. Pat will be missed, but remembered by many.

Patrick is survived by 2 brothers, Louie Van Poppel and Carl Van Poppel; a sister, Susan Washington; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Van Poppel.

The Rite of Committal will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with Father David Ruppert presiding. Visitation will be held prior from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
