Peter Swenski Jr

Peter Swenski Jr., 80 of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Adams Woodcrest. Peter was born on May 30, 1945 in Fort Wayne, son of the late Peter Swenski Sr. and Margaret (Ziemendorf) Swenski. Peter was united in marriage on December 4, 1970 to Jean F. Geels.

Peter worked for Courtesy Motors as a parts manager for 30 years. He was a 1962 graduate of Iron River High School in Iron River, Michigan.

He enjoyed playing golf and pool. He loved the Green Bay Packers. His pride and joy was driving and working on his 1965 Chevy Impala.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean F. Swenski of Decatur; son, Mark (Ginger) Swenski of Decatur; daughter, Diana (Scott) Macklin of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, Joshua Macklin, Aaron (McKenna) Macklin, Samantha (Joe) Dugan, Quinton (Madison) Swenski and Carson Swenski.

Peter was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Morning.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 also at the funeral home with calling 1 hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Father Jacob Runyon will be presiding. Burial will be immediately following services in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
