Phillip R. Reed

Phillip R. Reed, 85, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on April 13, 2025, at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital in Germantown, MD. Phillip was born in Decatur, IN, on December 14, 1939, to the late Ralph and Rose Mary (Omlor) Reed.

Phillip graduated from Decatur Catholic High School in 1958. He later graduated from college with a Doctorate. He was a scientist for the National Regulatory Commission. Phillip also served his country in the US Army from 1958-1961.

He is survived by a brother, Raymond Reed of Decatur, IN.

Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, David Reed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, with a visitation two hours prior to the Mass from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will take place immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.

Memorials may be made to Masses.
