Rise S. (Rice) McGee

Rise S. McGee Rice, 63 of Auburn, IN, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on March 4, 1959, in South Haven, MI, to Gordon Rice and the late Janet (Roudebush) Rice.

She attended the Church of God in Auburn and was involved in her community. Rise was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, reading, studying genealogy, finding random garage sales and living life to the fullest! A caretaker by nature she cared for many family, friends and strangers she met along the way including her elderly mother in law, aunt and grandparents. She worked for many years as a caregiver and social director for a group home for older men and women with disabilities in Auburn. One of her favorite memories was spending summers in Fawn Forest with her grandparents, extended families and eventually her children.

She is survived by her father, Gordon Rice of Beverly Hills, MI, her 2 daughters, Melissa (Joseph) Celani of Dearborn, MI and Kelli (Reynaldo) Rivera of Santa Barbara, CA; her son, Sean McGee of Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, Kevin (Kathy) Rice of Bonita Springs, FL; a sister, Beth Rice Bruton of Portland, OR, 6 grandchildren, former spouse Robert McGee of Ferndale, MI. and many nieces and nephews and family whom loved her.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Pleasant Dale Cemetery where Rise has many descendants buried alongside.

Donations can be given to Conner Prairie Farm at www.connerprairie.org as she was a descendant of William Conner. Arrangements were handled by Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
