Rita Elisabeth Garwood, 72, of Decatur, IN passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at her daughter’s residence. Rita was born in Decatur on October 16, 1952, to the late Donald E. and Gisela A. (Bender) Garwood.
Rita was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and bowling in her younger years. Rita had worked for G.E., then as an office assistant for Mark’s Heating and Air.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Miranda (Brandon) Razo of Decatur; 3 granddaughters, Lauren Rush of Indianapolis, Alexis Rush and Ayneira Downey both of Decatur; 5 brothers, Edward (Betty) Garwood of Decatur, Jerry (Annie) Garwood of Willshire, OH, Thomas (Laura) Garwood of Rockford, OH, Daniel Garwood of Monroe, John Garwood of Willshire, OH; 6 sisters, Barbara (Ron) Rowland of Willshire, OH, Mary “Sue” (Jan) Bluhm of Decatur, Teresa (Roland) Roehm of Willshire, OH, Karen (Tim) Colchin of Decatur, Lisa Huse of Decatur and Beverly Hunter of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father David Ruppert officiating. Calling will be 1 hour prior to Mass from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mary’s Church.
