Rita S. (Flesch) Markey

Rita S. (Flesch) Markey, 61, of Brownsburg, IN, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at her residence. Rita was born in San Jose, California on July 20, 1960 to Keith E. and Josie R. (DePew) Flesch. On August 29, 1994, she married John R. Markey.

Rita received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Finance from Indiana Wesleyan University. She achieved great career success working in Finance at GTE for 15 years. Along with this, she was a dedicated homemaker. She was extremely hardworking, motivated, and kind to all. She took great pride in her roles as businesswoman, wife, mother, sister, and friend.

She loved spending time laughing with family, gardening, cooking, traveling, problem-solving, finding deals while shopping, and helping her son operate a successful business out of their home.

She is survived by her spouse of 27 years, John R. Markey of Brownsburg, IN; her mother, Josie Flesch of Ossian, IN; son, Sean P. Markey of Chicago, ILL; daughter, Michelle N. Markey of Chicago, ILL; three brothers, Brian (Karen) Flesch of Decatur, IN, Anthony, (Penny) Flesch of Columbia City, IN and David (Ronda) Flesch of Ossian, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be on Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St., Decatur, IN, followed by A Celebration of Life.
