Ronnie L. Collins, 77, of Decatur, passed away at his residence on April 26, 2026. Ron was born on December 29, 1948 in Fort Wayne to the late James and Dorothy (Miller) Collins. On July 9, 1967, Ron married Judith K. “Judy” Workinger. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2022.
Ron attended the Monroe Lighthouse Church. He was a self-employed farmer and was known as “The Gas Man” when he worked at Energy Products/National Oil. Ron served in the US Marines.
He is survived by a son, James Edward “Jimmy” (Rebecca Lynn “Becky”) Collins of Decatur; a daughter, Rhonda Mary (Robert) Chavarria of Van Wert; a sister, Rebecca Agler of Decatur; 10 grandchildren, Jon Collins, Jenson (Cassy) Collins, Kaylee (Caleb) Gaiser, Kyndall (Ryan) Stucky, Karly (Ryan) Geise, Kelsey (Sam) Somers, Nathan (Chelsey) Chavarria, Jessica (Keston) Schneider, John Chavarria, Jacob (Emily) Chavarria; 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Monroe Lighthouse Church with calling an hour prior to the service, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Pastor David Myers officiating.
Memorials can be made to The Lighthouse Church or Monroe Youth League.
