Theodore “Ted” Braun, 71, of Decatur, passed away on September 4, 2022, in his home after a lengthy illness.
Ted was born in Decatur, to Arthur & Joan Braun, on March 6, 1951. He attended Adams Central High School and graduated in 1969. He married Karen Odle, on April 4, 1970, in Decatur and was married for 52 years. He worked as an electrician for General Electric, for 38 years and retired in 2007. In addition to being a local Ducks Unlimited chapter member, Ted would use his skills and talents to annually build, repair & maintain countless wood duck houses that are currently spread over the tri-state area. Always determined to leave more than he ever took. He was a lifelong avid hunter and fisherman. Ted loved sharing these hobbies with his sons, grandsons and friends. So many trips for them all to look back on, reminisce and smile. For the past 30 years, he spent as much time as he could on the lake, fishing in Michigan. Ted was a jack of all trades and always helping out his neighbors. He made friends wherever he went and could talk for hours about his hobbies. His quick wit and sly smile will be missed by all that were fortunate to have known him.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Karen; his three children, Jennifer (Mike) Tschannen of Ossian, Tyler (Jana) Braun of Decatur and Shawn (Laura) Braun of Auburn; two brothers, Tony (Susie) Braun of Berne & Greg Braun of Bloomington; three sisters, Vicki (Loren Hartmann) Krueckeberg of Ossian, Lori Braun of Yoder & Anita (Kevin) Henderson of Silver Lake; three grandsons, Taylor Braun of Decatur, Zachary & Lukas Tschannen of Ossian.
The family will not be holding any public services at this time. A gathering to celebrate and remember Ted’s life will be held at a future date.
