Vickie R. (Cookson) Baker

Vickie R. Baker, 72, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Decatur, IN, on December 26, 1951, the daughter of Darrel D. and Rosella (Affolder) Cookson. On August 22, 1980, she married Earl D. Baker Jr.

She worked as an Operator/supervisor at the United Telephone Company for 19 ½ years.

Vickie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Earl Baker Jr. of Decatur; 2 sons, Anthony Girod of Woodburn and M. Shane (Erin) Baker of Decatur; a brother, Dennis (Karen) Cookson of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, Boston Girod, Swayzie Girod, Blakely Baker, Bentley Baker and Bryce Baker.

Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to service from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Pastor Kevin Stiratt will be officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery at a later date.

Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
