Violet F. (Minick) Braun

Violet F. Braun, 89, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 28, 1933, in Hoagland, IN, the daughter of the late Earl E. and Marcella F. (Zuber) Minick. On May 8, 1954, she was united in marriage to William A. Braun, after almost 64 years together, he preceded her in death on April 13, 2018.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of Women of St. Mary’s. Violet graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951. She spent her life being a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and playing games.

Violet is survived by her 4 sons, Jerry Braun of Celina, OH, Sam Braun of Bluffton and Randy (Kelli) Braun of Decatur, IN, Chris (Amy) Braun of Fort Wayne, IN; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Braun; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Braun, in January 2022; 2 sons, Michael and Daniel Braun; 4 sisters, Dolores Proegler, Jeanette Rondot, Ruth Koch and Therese Sorg; 5 brothers, James Minick, Donald Minick, Robert Minick, Alvin Minick and Roger Minick; 3 brothers-in-law, Thomas Rondot, Vitus Koch and Don Sorg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation an hour prior from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Eleos Hospice or St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
